Ponant, the renowned French luxury cruise operator, is making a highly anticipated return to sailing with a new series of expedition cruises around Iceland, designed for luxury cruise enthusiasts eager to travel safely. Operating from July to August 2020, the itineraries aboard the newly launched Explorer Class ship, Le Bellot, will feature 7-night circumnavigations of Iceland, beginning and ending in Reykjavik.

The 180-guest vessel will explore the island’s dramatic landscapes, including glaciers, fjords, volcanoes, waterfalls, and the UNESCO-listed Vatnajokull National Park. Passengers will also cross the Arctic Circle to witness local wildlife such as whales, orcas, seals, and puffins. Each cruise includes zodiac outings, hikes, and opportunities to experience volcanic beaches and natural hot springs. Le Bellot is a next-generation eco-conscious cruise ship, offering 92 elegant staterooms and suites, each with a private balcony or terrace, along with a unique multisensory lounge inspired by Jules Verne, allowing guests to explore the underwater world in comfort.

Safety remains paramount: Ponant has partnered with top medical institutions and marine safety bodies to create a “Covid-Safe” environment with strict onboard protocols, medical-grade facilities, and a dedicated health team. All guests are required to undergo PCR testing upon arrival in Iceland before boarding. This seamless blend of safety, comfort, and exploration makes Ponant’s Iceland expeditions a unique and responsible way to travel during these times.
